KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Sophomore Alerick Soularie has earned D1 Baseball Third Team All-America honors, the organization announced on Thursday.
The outfielder burst onto the scene in his first season at the Division I level, leading the Vols in batting average (.357), runs scored (52), slugging percentage (.602) and on-base percentage (.466) while ranking second on the team in hits (70), home runs (11), runs batted in (46) and total bases (118).
Soularie was one of the top hitters in the Southeastern Conference, finishing the regular season ranked among the top three in the league in batting average, slugging percentage and on-base percentage. Soularie also finished the year ranked fifth in batting average (.364), eighth in hits (40) and tied for ninth in runs scored (28) during conference play, earning himself first-team All-SEC honors.
The Houston, Texas native is just the second UT player to earn postseason All-America recognition by D1 Baseball, joining Nick Senzel, who garnered third-team accolades back in 2016 before being selected by the Cincinnati Reds with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2016 MLB Draft.
