“The Sheriff” is helping bring his own saloon to Knoxville.
Adventurous Journeys (AJ) Capital Partners announced on Thursday that it has acquired the Hilton Garden Inn on Cumberland Avenue.
The hotel will operate independently as The Volunteer Hotel prior to and during renovations, which will begin in December, according to a release. Once the renovations are complete next spring, the 112-key hotel will debut as Graduate Knoxville.
In partnership with former Tennessee quarterback Peyton Manning, Graduate Knoxville will include Saloon 16, a “western-inspired, high-end watering hole” that will “boast a refined, yet old-school, experience including a jukebox, dart board, live piano and outdoor dining.”
The name Saloon 16 was inspired by Manning’s nickname, “The Sheriff,” as well as the jersey number he wore while he played for the Vols from 1994-97.
Graduate Knoxville will be part of the Graduate Hotels collection.
“Since the inception of Graduate Hotels, it has been a goal of ours to bring a property to Knoxville,” Ben Weprin, Founder and CEO of AJ Capital Partners, said in the release. “While each Graduate hotel is distinct and personal, this project hits especially close to home.”
