It is time for some SEC football predictions, as I do each week on here on my blog, Vince’s View, which is driven by Oak Ridge Nissan.

The point spreads are simply as a gauge of favorites with straight-up winners, not picked against the spread.

2018 Week 8 Prediction Record: 5-1
Season Prediction Record: 56-16 (78%)

Week 9 – SEC Football Schedule

Vanderbilt (3-5, 0-4 SEC) at Arkansas (2-6, 0-4 SEC)
Series: ARK leads, 7-2
Noon ET • SEC Network
Last: ARK, 31-28 (2011 in Nashville)
Fayetteville, Ark. • Reynolds Razorback Stadium (72,000)
Sirius: 103/105 • XM: 191/190
Line: Vanderbilt -1
Vince’s View: This is one close. Vanderbilt has been competitive in most games, but they haven’t been able to finish. Arkansas is coming off of it’s best game last week and is expected to get starting QB Ty Storey back, but it lacks overall talent and health. Despite home field for Arkansas, I’ve seen a little more life and offensive ability from Vandy.
Score Prediction: Vanderbilt 26 Arkansas 23

#9 Florida (6-1, 4-1 SEC) vs. #7 Georgia (6-1, 4-1 SEC)
Series: UGA leads, 50-43-2
3:30 p.m. ET • CBS
Last: UGA, 42-7 (2017 at Jacksonville)
Jacksonville, Fla. • EverBank Field (82,871)
Sirius: 81/121 • XM: 81/192
Line: Georgia -6 ½
Vince’s View: Florida has been tough, better than expected and opportunistic with turnovers. However, the level of leaping off the Georgia bandwagon has been pre-mature and unwarranted. Georgia still is loaded with talent, has an elite coaching staff and Smart finally has the motivation stick on his side. That also shouldn’t be needed with the hated Gators as the opposition in J-ville.
Score Prediction: Georgia 38 Florida 17

#12 Kentucky (6-1, 4-1 SEC) at Missouri (4-3, 0-3 SEC)
Series: UK leads, 5-3
4 p.m. ET • SEC Network
Last: UK, 40-34 (2017 at Lexington)
Columbia, Mo. • Memorial Stadium – Faurot Field (71,168)
Sirius: 103/105 • XM: 191/190
Line: Missouri -7 ½
Vince’s View: I don’t get this line. Well, actually, it’s because Vegas has not been a believer in the Wildcats all season. Missouri’s offense is much better at home, but I have more trust in Benny Snell and the UK defense than the inconsistent Tigers.
Score Prediction: Kentucky 24 Missouri 21

#16 Texas A&M (5-2, 3-1 SEC) at Mississippi State (4-3, 1-3 SEC)
Series: MSU leads, 6-5
7 p.m. ET • ESPN
Last: MSU, 35-14 (2017 at College Station)
Starkville, Miss. • Davis Wade Stadium at Scott Field (61,337)
Sirius: 81/121 • XM: 81/192
Line: Mississippi State -1
Vince’s View: I don’t understand this line either. Texas A&M has proven it can win on the road in league play. Miss State has proven to be a disappointment that has lost it’s early season dominant running game and gained a struggling Nick Fitzgerald
Score Prediction: Texas A&M 27 Mississippi State 13

Tennessee (3-4, 1-3 SEC) at South Carolina (3-3, 2-3 SEC)
Series: UT leads, 25-9-2
7:30 p.m. ET • SEC Network
Last: SC, 15-9 (2017 at Knoxville)
Columbia, S.C. • Williams-Brice Stadium (80,250)
Sirius: 103/105 • XM: 191/190
Line: South Carolina -8 ½
Vince’s View: South Carolina has plenty of advantages in this game: Playing at home…coming off of an open week…get their best defensive player DJ Wonnum back from injury…Vols played Alabama last week…UT lost LT Trey Smith indefinitely…Will Muschamp is undefeated against Tennessee, just to name some. This game won’t completely decide UT’s bowl opportunities, but it will really shape it. If Tennessee wins it will be impressive to re-capture the confidence from the Auburn game two weeks ago, shake-off the Alabama game and win on the road in SEC play again. UT would then just need one more SEC win in the final three games to get to a bowl game. I’d like their chances with a SC win. If UT falls at the Gamecocks, it could technically still win two SEC games in their final three, but honestly may not be good enough to get up off the deck again, especially without Trey Smith. I think the former scenario is more likely.
Score Prediction: South Carolina 34 Tennessee 20

Open Date: #1 Alabama (8-0, 5-0 SEC); Auburn (5-3, 2-3 SEC); #4 LSU (7-1, 4-1 SEC); Ole Miss (5-3, 1-3 SEC)
