Time for some SEC football predictions, as I do each week on, here on my blog, Vince’s View, which is driven by Oak Ridge Nissan.

As I say each year, the point spreads are simply as a gauge of favorites with straight-up winners, not picked against the spread.

2017 SEC Prediction Record: 98-24 (80%)
2018 Week 1 Prediction Record: 14-0

Week 2 – SEC Football Schedule
#18 Mississippi State (1-0, 0-0 SEC) at Kansas State (1-0)
Series: Tied, 1-1
Noon ET • ESPN
Manhattan, Kansas • Bill Snyder Family Stadium (50,000)
Sirius:111 • XM: 191
Point Spread: Mississippi State -8
Vince’s View: Seems like the Bulldogs are bigger than they should be favorites here, but I think MSU is pretty good. K-State will make it awkward and fight like crazy. Nick Fitzgerald is back from his one-game suspension. He may have a little early rust, but I think he’ll be motivated and lead Miss State to an impressive non-conference road win.
Prediction: Mississippi State 27 Kansas State 14

Nevada (1-0) at Vanderbilt (1-0, 0-0 SEC)
Series: First Meeting
Noon ET • SEC Network
Nashville, Tenn. • Vanderbilt Stadium (40,350)
Sirius: 113 • XM: 190
Point Spread: Vanderbilt -9
Vince’s View: Had Vandy had issues against Middle Tennessee last week, I’d worry about them being prone to the upset here. Although the Commodores are great, the team is more sound and competitive than the image of them that you may have.
Prediction: Vanderbilt 30 Nevada 10

Arkansas State (1-0) at #1 Alabama (1-0, 0-0 SEC)
Series: UA leads, 2-0
3:30 p.m. ET • ESPN2
Tuscaloosa, Ala. • Bryant-Denny Stadium (101,821)
Sirius: 111 • XM: 191
Point Spread: Alabama -36
Vince’s View: Red Wolves have a solid program that’s competitive against some Power 5 teams. I like head coach Blake Anderson a lot. Not Alabama. Not this Tide team.
Prediction: Alabama 56 Arkansas State 10

#3 Georgia (1-0, 0-0 SEC) at #24 South Carolina (1-0, 0-0 SEC)
Series: UGA leads, 50-18-2
3:30 p.m. ET • CBS
Last: UGA, 24-10 (2017 at Athens)
Columbia, S.C. • Williams-Brice Stadium (80,250)
Sirius: 94 • XM: 192
Point Spread: Georgia -10
Vince’s View: I seriously considered going with South Carolina in this game. I even leaned that way at times this offseason when thinking about it. This will be the biggest threat to Georgia in the regular season. The Gamecocks often give Georgia fits. This Gamecocks team has an outstanding offense with no weaknesses. Williams-Brice will be out of its mind like no other time since Stephen Garcia led SC to an upset over Alabama years ago. In the end, because Georgia is so talented and I see the Dawgs going undefeated in the regular season, losing in the SEC Championship and still making the CFP, I’ll stick with UGA in a close one.
Prediction: Georgia 27 South Carolina 24

Southern Illinois (1-0) at Ole Miss (1-0, 0-0 SEC)
Series: UM leads, 2-0
4 p.m. ET • SEC Network Alternate Channel
Oxford, Miss. • Vaught-Hemingway Stadium (64,038)
Sirius: 127 • XM: 386
Point Spread: n/a
Vince’s View: None needed
Prediction: Ole Miss 63 Southern Illinois 17

East Tennessee State (1-0) at Tennessee (0-1, 0-0 SEC)
Series: First Meeting
4 p.m. ET • SEC Network
Knoxville, Tenn. • Neyland Stadium (102,455)
Sirius: 113 • XM: 190
Point Spread: n/a
Vince’s View: UT better not look anything less than dominant or else the angst will grow with some fans after just two games in the Jeremy Pruitt era. UT needs to put ETSU away early, so they can play a lot of players and maybe find future big-game contributors now. Late in Butch Jones’ tenure, the Vols would have to keep their starters in too long against light early season opponents, not allowing them to play back-ups and then it took a toll on the starters late in the year. On top of that, when your starters go down to injury, now the reserves have less experience. It’s a domino effect if you don’t take care of your business. This is a get right game for Tennessee…so, get it right.
Prediction: Tennessee 45 East Tennessee State 7

#2 Clemson (1-0) at Texas A&M (1-0, 0-0 SEC)
Series: TAMU leads, 3-1
7 p.m. ET • ESPN
College Station, Texas • Kyle Field (102,733)
Sirius: 137 • XM: 203
Point Spread: Clemson -12
Vince’s View: Texas A&M can show me so much more in this game than it did in looking sharp in week one. I have to see if first, because Clemson is so deep and talented everywhere. This may be a rare early season L for the SEC in non-conference games.
Prediction: Clemson 38 Texas A&M 21

Southeastern Louisiana (0-1) at #11 LSU (1-0, 0-0 SEC)
Series: LSU leads, 1-0
7 p.m. ET • ESPN2
Baton Rouge, La. • Tiger Stadium (102,321)
Sirius: 94 • XM: 192
Point Spread: n/a
Vince’s View: None needed
Prediction: LSU 45 Southeastern Louisiana 3

Wyoming (1-1) at Missouri (1-0, 0-0 SEC)
Series: First Meeting
7 p.m. ET • ESPNU
Columbia, Mo. • Memorial Stadium – Faurot Field (71,168)
Sirius: 106 • XM: 385
Point Spread: Missouri -18 ½
Vince’s View: Wyoming is a decent team with a competitive defense, but Drew Lock and his offensive weapons will be too tough for the Cowboys.
Prediction: Missouri 52 Wyoming 21

Alabama State (1-0) at #7 Auburn (1-0, 0-0 SEC)
Series: First Meeting
7:30 p.m. ET • SEC Network Alternate Channel
Auburn, Ala. • Jordan-Hare Stadium (87,451)
Sirius: 111 • XM: 191
Point Spread: n/a
Vince’s View: None needed
Prediction: Auburn 56 Alabama State 0

Arkansas (1-0, 0-0 SEC) at Colorado State (0-2)
Series: ARK leads, 3-0
7:30 p.m. ET • CBS Sports Network
Fort Collins, Col. • Canvas Stadium (41,000)
Sirius: 127 • XM: 386
Point Spread: Arkansas -14
Vince’s View: John Jancek’s defense, whether it’s his fault or not.
Prediction: Arkansas 42 Colorado State 21

Kentucky (1-0, 0-0 SEC) at #25 Florida (1-0, 0-0 SEC)
Series: UF leads, 51-17
7:30 p.m. ET • SEC Network Last: UF, 28-27 (2017 at Lexington)
Gainesville, Fla. • Ben Hill Griffin Stadium at Steve Spurrier-Florida Field (88,548)
Sirius: 113 • XM: 190
Point Spread: Florida -14
Vince’s View: I don’t think Florida is great. I need to see much more to think they’ve solved the QB question. UK has some excellent individual stars on defense and RB Benny Snell. Problem is, there are not enough quality, consistent guys everywhere else, including at QB. Oh, and then there’s the streak.
Prediction: Florida 23 Kentucky 14
