Tennessee defensive coordinator Kevin Sherrer is optimistic about turning around the Vols’ defense.
Tennessee’s defense ranked No. 82 in the nation last season and No. 95 nationally the year before. Issues on defense played a big role in Tennessee not winning the SEC East in 2016.
That’s something new head coach Jeremy Pruitt and his staff are trying to change.
Watch this video featuring Sherrer, who’s also in charge of coaching Tennessee’s inside linebackers.
“We want to be multiple in schemes,” Sherrer says in the video. “We want to be aggressive. (Fans are) going to see a fast, physical, attacking style of defense that’s going to go out there and try to dictate to the offense and play team defense and create turnovers.”
“We’re looking for big, fast, physical football players that are going to have the ability to come in and do things that can change the game and enhance the program.”
